I can't believe you forgot the five thousand dollar HDMI cable! That's the most important part! Never mind the fact that most HDMI cables do basically the same thing and have very few specialized features, don't think about it. Never mind the fact that gold plating is worthless on a digital signal. Spend five thousand dollars on a gold plated HDMI lead, right now!

I'm sure all of that would hold up to scientific scrutiny.
I mean, sure, you are just transferring 1s and 0s back and forth, and as long as all of the 1s and 0s get where they need to go, your picture will look exactly the same with a $10 cable as it does with a $2300 cable... but I really do need that Level 7 dissipation. My house is constantly flooded with satellite radiation.
Yes, there are shitty HDMI cables. And some of them struggle to meet the bandwidth they claim on the packaging. This will cause no picture or sound or it will cause dropouts or skipped frames. Sometimes you will get crazy artifacts that pop in and out. But you cannot improve video or audio quality with a fancy cable.
You will not see magical colors so bright you cum in your shorts.
You will not hear indescribably intense bass that will violently vibrate your testicles--killing your sperm. That was microplastics, okay?
You will get the data that was encoded into the media file.
You just need a cable that can pass along that data without incident. Buying a "good" cable is actually recommended. Blue Jeans Cable is a great brand that has high quality control standards and a good warranty. They are a little spendy, but everything is a good value.

So you know they prioritize their budget toward R&D and product design over graphic designer or a subscription to Squarespace.
I buy their cables because they always meet the data bandwidth they claim and they can take abuse due to using tougher materials that last.
My best advice when buying an HDMI or other data cable is to figure out how much bandwidth you need, and then make sure in the product description they mention the data rate.
So if you want 4K resolution at 60 Hz, you will need a cable that does at least 18 gigabits per second. If you need 4K/120Hz/4:4:4/12 bit, then the bandwidth should be 48 Gbps. And if you get more bandwidth than you actually need, the cable is backwards compatible.

USUALLY, if they list the actual data rate (Gbps) in the product description, you can trust they certified it can pass that much data through. It's when you don't see any Gbps rating in the product description that you should move on to another cable.
(USB standards are insanely confusing, but the same advice applies. Try to find out the data rate you need and research to make sure the cable is capable of that.)
I'm afraid all of this cable nonsense goes back a long way. When I turned 16 I immediately applied for a job at Best Buy selling computers. And I really loved that job. So many people were clueless about computers back then and I was very good at assessing their needs and making sure they went home with the equipment and accessories that would suit them within their budget.
And if they tried to buy the eMachines computers, I would tell them they might as well set their money on fire.
Throw directly into trash because this is some hot garbage.
Unfortunately my managers pressured me to sell warranties and accessories that I didn't really believe in. The hardest thing they asked me to do was sell people gold-plated printer cables. This is back when printers still used a parallel port connection.
They wanted me to sell these for $40 to $60 (depending on length).
Even though these bad boys did the exact same thing for only $20.
I could actually see on the store's computer how much markup these cables had. The cheap ones cost Best Buy the exact same amount as the gold ones.
Maybe they weren't as aesthetically pleasing, but those cheaper cables were built like fuckin' tanks. I probably still have some of these in my basement that would function just as well as they did 25 years ago.
The ONLY difference was the "gold" contacts on the ends. But my managers told me to lie to customers. I was to tell them you would get much faster print speeds, better colors, and more DPI (dots per inch). But both cables sent the same 1s and 0s. They either worked or they didn't. The only tiny advantage is that gold contacts are slightly less resistant to corrosion over time. But I have yet to see that happen within the lifespan of any cable.
So I would tell customers it was a waste of money and lie to my managers saying the customers weren't interested.
"Did you tell them it was faster?" "Yes." (A lie.) "Did you tell them it made the colors better?" "Yes." (Also a lie.) "Well, we're going to have to work on your sales presentation skills." "Sounds good, boss." (Whatever, dude.)

Spaceway 70 - Pablo
The Marlin heaves out of the darkened dock, whining with unwarmed engines. A simple objective:
- Assess damages, neutralize threats.
I've done it a million times before. Come to think of it,ā
Red lights blare outside and the station's distress call is picked up by the radio. I fly around the cylindrical bodyāperform a systematic scan. How would the incident report be written?
- Upper hull damaged in a hit-and-run bombing; station status unknown.
- Soldier casualties: ...
Soldiers. They never chose to lay down their livesāto fight for an uncaring rulerānot them.
- Assailant(s): Unknown vessel, presumed solitary. Heat signature detected, actively pursuing.
Ambiguous language. Open to litigation. Sarge would be sad.
- Disregard previous entry. Chasing assailant via engine heat; infrared reading with 0.87 certainty. Monitoring radar.
- Radar confirms a small ship. Moving at 75% of own velocity. Distance 2000 mi.

They pull up and to the left, attempting to get above and behind me, though it's too little, too late.

- Upon visual examination, there appears to have been no pilot. Control is either automated or remote. No outstanding radio frequency detected.

Out and ahead of me are markers indicating a commercial route. Safe for traders.
A transponder on one of the markers pings my ship. Something about remaining in place, a unit arriving soon. I don't make it a good hundred miles before a squad comes in with weapons hot.
I dodge a few shots and they graze me with a laser. I'm not about to make war with a whole task force.
The Marlin is a ship of esoteric construction. It has a hull constructed for incredibly heavy salvosāgranted you have enough sealant [1] aboard. It comes with a cloak [2], more a scrambler than anything, which uses up insane amounts of power, and an EM pulse [3] which likewise drains my batteries. It's a perfect ship for an early retirement [4], as long as my encounters are few and far between.
With the push of a fader I turn my radio into a tool of war, creating a streak of white along their IR imager and making their radar unusable. Similarly, with a press of a button the magnetron pulses on, disabling their steering and warming up their cabins.

Two more pull down and in front, shooting and missing. I pull up and turn around, hoping to hit them with more microwaves.

[1]: A chemical formulation which undergoes an extremely exothermic reaction when exposed to the vacuum of space. Akin to tire sealant from when vulcanized rubber was used for land vehicles.
[2]: A system consisting of telescoping antennae and an ultra-high amplitude RF generator. Hides a ship's exact location within a much broader, irregular radio signature.
[3]: A high-powered magnetron capable of producing strong microwaves with multiple miles of range. Temporarily scrambles navigation systems, causing affected ships to veer off-course.
[4]: I can't keep doing this
[5]: An indicator which points in the direction of the closest star, when properly calibrated. Detects the unique products of nuclear fusion.
[6]: Akin to the cloak, a disposable projectile which blanks out vast swathes of a ship's radio imager.
[7]: A large, mechanized retroreflector which concentrates heat from all directions, and shoots it back at the viewer, making infrared imaging of a ship nearly impossible.
[8]: In reference to a mechanism which seals the exhaust vents of the Marlin. This turns the entirety of the engine tract into a bomb. A stupid idea if held closed for more than a few seconds.

RF grimaced after sipping his cold coffee. It was utterly disgusting, but he would never waste the precious caffeine in it.
(Really he was too lazy to get a new coffee. He'd be dead before he admitted it. What did he have an assistant for?)
Also, he didn't feel like trudging through the dark and empty hallways of the factory right now. First of all he was trying to squeeze in some late night paperwork before he passed out from exhaustion (again). Secondly, there was a menace on the loose.
That menace being (Y/n), his assistant. They insisted to stay in longer today as well. The Christmas spirit had a manic grip on them and they were set on decorating some parts of the factory.
He had allowed it, seeing there was no way to stop them anyway. Under one condition that is: His office and the lab would be spared from their jolly decorating endeavours.
He had hoped this would be a quiet affair and wouldn't interrupt his own work. As per usual his assistant just looooved to prove him wrong:
Suddenly the most obnoxious Christmas music began blairing. THROUGH THE FACTORY'S SPEAKER SYSTEM.
"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart ~," came it through the speakers.
Walden froze in disbelief. Wh- How?! And most importantly: Whyyyy..??
His eyelid twitched. He really liked his assistant and really wanted to give them the chance to be themself. It would be a shame if they ended up in the Grinder. But if THIS was the music they listened to during the holidays, then his patience with them wouldn't last very long.
Walden pinched the bridge of his (non-existent) nose and took a deep breath. Relaaaax dude... You need your assistant to bring you coffee...!
He tried to drown out the annoying version of 'Jingle Bells' that played next by focusing back on his paperwork.
This worked for maybe three minutes or so, until the nightcore version OF THE SAME F-ING SONG played.
No, not again-! The first time was terrible enough...!
A quiet, tortured groan was heard in Walden's office. (That is a terrible sentence to be taken out of context... I'm so sorry...! XD)
After that song was over it was time for Miss Mariah Carey and "All I want for Christmas"! :D
Walden's biro snapped in half in his metal hand. Okay, enough is enough!
Seconds later the door to his office busted open, making some concerning cracking noises. Walden stood in its frame, towering silhouette intimidating as a shadow covered his face.
Where the fuck were they?
He marched through the factory, patience at an all time zero. His assistant better start running-
He found them in the lobby, happily singing along.
"Oh baby, all I want for Christmas iiisss YOUUU!!!"
"AssisTAAANT...!" Walden quickened his pace as soon as he saw them.
They shrieked in terror and scrambled to get away from him, dropping a few ornaments in the process. In their panicked attempt to get away, their feet got tangled in some garlands and they fell.
Walden wasted no time and caught up to them. He grabbed them by the back of their lab coat and dragged them back onto their feet. His glare was piercing as he sought out eye contact with them.
"Turn. It. Off," he pressed forward between grit teeth.
Suddenly (Y/n)'s fear turned into an amused smirk.
"Why, are you bothered, Mr. Grinch?"
He fought back his seething rage, slightly shaking them. "I said: Turn it off! That's an order!", he barked.
His assistant had the audacity to chuckle. "Gotta let me go first, then. Can't reach the control unit from here."
Walden paused. Almost robotically he let them go. Still giggling, they went to a small side room attached to the lobby. Moments later, the music cut out. Silence. Sweet relief. He felt the tension and anger fall from his shoulders.
(Y/n) carefully peeked out of the small room. "Better now, sir?"
"Much better, thank you," Walden replied tiredly. This small incident had sapped the rest of his energy. Screw the paperwork, he was ready for bed.
(Y/n)'s face softened upon seeing him so tired. They quietly apologized from their spot. He waved it off and turned to leave.
The next morning he found a small apology gift box from his assistant on his desk. In it was a bag of his favorite coffee, some sweets and at the very bottom a CD.

Ukraine Just Captured One Of Russiaās Most Capable Aerial Electronic Warfare Pods
Russiaās lost Khibiny-U electronic warfare pod that flies on its advanced Flanker fighters will be a prize for foreign intelligence agencies.

Ukrainian forces have been capturing significant amounts of Russian materiel of various kinds as they keep pushing eastward and southward as part of their ongoing counteroffensives. These spoils of war now reportedly include a relatively intact example of an RTU 518-PSM self-protection jamming pod. This pod is associated with the latest version of the larger Khibiny-U electronic warfare suite used on the Su-30SM Flanker-H, and its capture holds potentially great intelligence value.
Pictures of the front end of the pod in question began circulating on social media earlier today. It was reportedly discovered among the wreckage of a Russian Su-30SM, with the serial number RF-81773 and bort number Red 62, that was shot down earlier in the conflict near the city of Izium (Izyum) in Ukraineās northeastern Kharkiv region. It would appear that Russian forces had made no serious attempt to locate what was left of the aircraft, and remove or destroy it to prevent their capture before the area was recently liberated.

As installed on Russiaās Su-30SMs, the RTU 518-PSM is part of a larger suite referred to as Khibiny-U. The entire ācomplex,ā as it is referred to in Russian, consists of the SAP 518-SM, made of up one RTU 518-PSM pod on the right wingtip and an RTU 518-LSM1 on the left wingtip, as well as the internal KS REP system, according to a 2021 paper from the Kaluga Scientific-Research Institute for Radio Engineering. Better known by the Russian acronym KNIRTI, this is the manufacturer of all of the versions of the Khibiny family of electronic warfare complexes.
As already noted, the RTU 518-PSM is understood to contain an active jamming system, while the companion RTU 518-LSM1 is believed to be a passive receiver that detects threatening electromagnetic spectrum emissions, such as those from hostile radars. In its primary role as a self-protection system against enemy air defenses, the complete SAP 518-SM subsystem, also referred to as Regata, reportedly has the ability to spot and then jam and otherwise confuse an opponentās radars ā including seekers on incoming radar-guided missiles ā in various ways. This may include the ability to generate false emissions to try to help mask the actual aircraft using Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) technology, which you can read more about here.
There are also indications that the SAP 518-SM subsystem is focused on protecting against mid-band threats, while the internal KS REP subsystem is optimized against high-band ones, giving the overall complex a broader range of capabilities. This is based on what is known about the function of slightly different pods as part of the older Khibiny-10M system for the Su-35S. Another earlier version of Khibiny, the Khibiny-10V, also includes distinct pods and is used on the Su-34.
The Su-30SM can carry an additional pod, known as the SAP-14, that can reportedly provide escort jamming capabilities for larger groups of aircraft, on the centerline. Itās not immediately clear if SAP-14 is a component of Khibiny-U or not, though it clearly can be used together with other elements of that system.

In addition, the U in Khibiny-U is believed to stand for unifitsirovannyi, or unified in Russian, suggesting it may reflect an effort to create a standardized version of the system that will work with multiple types of aircraft as an offshoot of developing an electronic warfare suite for the Su-30SM. The Russian Ministry of Defense first hired KNIRTI to develop the Su-30SMās new electronic warfare complex in 2013, a year before the Khibiny-10V became the first version of that system to enter operational service on any platform.
Russian SU-30SMs were first seen with Khibiny-U in 2018. However, there is evidence that Russian Su-30SMs in Syria flew on at least some occasions as early as 2015 with the wingtip pods from the Su-34ās Khibiny-10V system.
The possibility of gleaning new details about what the jammer inside the RTU 518-PSM pod, as well as the rest of the Khibiny-U system, can and cannot do is exactly why its capture is significant. Elements of all three known versions of Khibiny have almost certainly been recovered in the country of the fighting already, including from the remains of an Su-35S that came down in the vicinity of Izium back in April before Russian forces initially captured the area. However, this newly captured example of the RTU 518-PSM pod appears to be in especially good condition.
The potential intelligence haul could be even greater depending on the condition of other components of the electronic warfare suite on the crashed jet, as well. If it is indeed from the wreckage of Su-30SM Red 62, that aircraft could also have been fitted with the L150 Pastel radar homing and warning system (RHAWS), which is used for self-defense and for helping with the targeting of Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles, as well as UV-30MKR chaff/flare dispensers.
Thereās potentially more for Ukrainian intelligence personnel, and almost certainly their foreign partners, such as those in the United States, to pick over here than just the hardware, too. Any surviving data storage systems with any software used to run portions of the Khibiny-U could actually be more valuable, especially given the reported DRFM signal mimicking functionality.
The actual subcomponents, including computer chips and other electronics, used in the RTU 518-PSM and any other elements of the associated electronic warfare complex could provide valuable industrial intelligence, too. As The War Zone, among others, has reported in the past, the conflict in Ukraine has exposed just how reliant Russiaās defense industry is on foreign-sourced parts.
The apparent decision on the part of the Russian military to make no efforts to do anything about the remains of this aircraft, possibly due to the belief that their positions in this part of Ukraine were relatively secure, can only add insult to injury.
The war in Ukraine has already been a massive boon for foreign intelligence services, especially when it comes to Russiaās most advanced electronic warfare and air defense capabilities. Many captured systems may well have already been sent outside the country for further analysis and evalution. Even before the current conflict, Ukraine had been an important source of Soviet-designed hardware, including fighter jets and large radars, for the U.S. militaryās so-called foreign materiel exploitation (FME) enterprise.
Whatever the case, an important component of an entire family of Russian aircraft electronic warfare suites, one of the most modern such systems that the country has and it uses on a number of its front-line combat jets, now looks to be firmly in the hands of its opponents.

Martial vs. Military
Another point where we agree with RF is in not fetishising destruction ā not making attack into an affair of professionalised militants, and so effectively another removed political sphere. āWe have no interests in being specialists in fighting. Rather, we dream of moments which call on each of us to become everything at once; situations which demand that each of us become fighters and healers, caretakers and firebringers.ā (Quoting from āWe Welcome the Fire, We Welcome the Rainā).
For, as many anarchists have always maintained, destruction and creativity go hand in hand. āA building can be destroyed without constructing a new one, but a relationship of alienation cannot be ended without the creation of another type of relationship. ā¦ Without speaking of the creation of new social relations, we cannot speak honestly about the destruction of the State.ā Giving full respect to committed nihilist comrades, as RF point out this means stepping away from the ānihilist proposalā that speaks only of destroying the State (or the whole existing system of domination).
While, at the same time, we cannot create in this world without also attacking. RF put this well by distinguishing āthe martialā from āthe militaryā. Militarisation means life impoverished, regimented, made anxious, reduced to service of the war machine. āThe martialā means fighting for and as a part of our struggle for life, ānot as the science of war, but the art of rebellionā, challenging our passivity and the stateās legitimacy as we break its claimed monopoly of violence. āThis is something which has been steadily stripped away from us over the generations; the ability to fight on our own terms, as much as the awareness of the war we inhabit.ā We regain it in practice: training, learning new skills, going out alone or forming gangs, and taking action. āThis isnāt a call to āarmed struggleā but for inclusion of a neglected aspect of a holistic approach to rebellionā (quoting Sea Weed).
In the end, for sure, this essay does not offer a programme for how to advance. Not that weāre looking for one. We know a lot of the paths we need to take ā grow our skills and strength as individuals and groups, find comrades, be open to new encounters ā¦ these can even start to sound like platitudes, but theyāre right. āAvenues for sharing, discussing and sharpening perspectives and methods is one accomplishment of anarchists and other radicals, in our own limited way so far. Our enemies are well aware of this ā¦ā āExperience tells us that even a little empowerment and picking-up of skills can have a huge impact in oneās character or desires, and with our unconstrained lives at stake, letās not be stopped by fear of failure.ā
And then there are lots of questions, things we donāt know or are just starting to explore. One weāre especially interested in at the moment, that this essay highlighted, is one that weāve tried to explore as weāve worked on this site, and still only have glimpses of. In 1987, Subaru was the first to successfully commercialize the automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT), which manufacturers around the world were developing as the ideal transmission.
This is Subaru's ECVT, which incorporates unique cutting-edge technology. Unlike conventional transmissions that change gears by combining gears, this transmission uses a special steel belt and a pair of pulleys to change gears continuously, achieving high performance and efficiency that could not be achieved with conventional automatic or manual transmissions.

ECVT is an electronic transmission that precisely controls the clutch engagement and disengagement.
It uses a controlled electromagnetic clutch. It achieves the smooth start and stop that only an ECVT can provide. In addition, because the pair of pulleys is directly connected by a special steel belt, the lockup works across the entire range, providing strong acceleration that always responds to the amount of pressure applied to the accelerator. If you think that it is the original project I am working on, wherein you are reading the retrofuturistic command terminal of a spaceship's limited VI as it begins to gain intelligence as its lone user continues to try to converse with it. The VI can only respond with the preprogrammed command responses it has available to it from the get go.
Anyways, I haven't written much, just sort of establishing the rules a little bit. None of this is set in stone like at all. Just kinda toying around now.

The alarm is blaring loudly throughout the ARK, as Eggman entered the central control room, extremely confused why the cannon wasn't working despite the timer being at zero. "Argh! What the... What's going on?! Why doesn't the Cannon fire?!" Eggman exasperated, trying to get into the system to see what was going on.
In his attempts, a red light came on. "What?! What's happening here?!" He questioned, had he accidentally triggered a failsafe system? Had the system kicked him out? The doctor had a thousand questions running through his mind, especially as a recording became visible on the computer screen.
It was his grandfather. "It's... it's my grandfather! Gerald Robotnik!"

Amy and Knuckles had just entered the room where Tails was waiting, and had a clear view of the planet, when the entirety of the ARK began to shake. "What's that...that vibration?!" Knuckles said, trying to keep his balance before the trembling started to slow down.
"Hey, wait... somebody's coming!" Amy said, looking up. Knuckles and Tails followed suit, as Rouge appeared from above, Knuckles was hoping to not see her again this soon.
"You...? You haven't given up yet?!" He asked.
Rouge had a downcast look on her face. "It's all over for usā¦" She grimaced.
"What do you mean by that?" Tails asked this time.
"I just received a message from my boss... The Space Colony ARK, is currently approaching earth at an incredible velocity. It, probably... will impact earthā¦" She explained, despite their effort to stop the cannon, the planet was still on a one way ticket to doom.
Before anyone could do anything, a computer screen that was nearby came alive, with the same recording of Gerald Robotnik that Eggman was witnessing. "Who is that?" Amy asked.
Similar to the announcement Eggman made that he would overtake the world in 24 hours, Gerald's recording plays not just all throughout the ARK but, on earth on every single television. In it, Gerald is looking at the floor and is bound to a chair by metal chains, it looked like he was in a prison cell. The professor began speaking in the recording.
"This is a death sentence for every human being on earth. If my calculations are correct, the Space Colony ARK will impact the earth in twenty-seven minutes and fifty-three seconds. All of you will be destroyed, along with your beloved planet earth." The Professor spat. The ARK began to hurtles towards the earth. Upon entering into the atmosphere of the planet, it becomes encased in a ball of fire.
"I plan to give you a taste of my revenge, once all the seven Chaos Emeralds are collected. Once I initiate this program, it cannot be disabled. All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me... will feel my loss, and despair!" The Professor lamented, soon another voice in the background could be heard, it must have been the soldiers that arrested him.
"Is there anything else you want to say?" The soldier behind the camera asked, any life left in the Professor simply faded away in those final moments.
"Noā¦" Were the Professors final words, as the sounds of guns being loaded, soldiers at the ready, before the footage cut off, yet it was clear what the fate of the Professor wasā¦
"Okay seriously, who was tHaT-?!" Amy had started to reiterate her question before the trembling picked up again.
"Hey, the vibration's getting worse." Knuckles said.
As the four in the room were trying to figure out what to do, the door behind them swung open, Eggman walking into the facility now. "Professor Gerald Robotnik! One of the greatest scientific minds in the world, and my grandfather!" Eggman answered the question.
Knuckles quickly got into a fighting stance. "What?! I knew you were behind all this! Stop it right now, or else--" The echidna got cut off by Eggman.
"--I'd have done this a long time ago if I had the chance." Eggman countered.
"What do you mean?" Amy asked, on the defensive if Eggman tried anything. Eggman surprised yet also not really to see she survived that trap of his.
"You're pretty persistent for a hedgehog, aren't you? You're still alive, huh?" Eggman taunted, as Amy got her hammer at the ready.
"Heh, just letting Knuckles pilot the shuttle all the way over here, was more dangerous than you could ever be!" She retorted.
"HEY!" Knuckles interjected, not liking the sly comment from Amy.
Eggman paid them no mind, as he walked over to Rouge and handed her a disk drive. Rouge was confused by this. "What is this?" She asked the doctor.
"This is my grandfather's diary." Eggman concluded.
Rouge didn't question it, as she walked over to the computer terminal that played the recording, placing the disk into the terminal by the wall and text starts scrolling up on the monitor. She began to read its contexts to everyone in the room. "I don't quite know what happened, or what went wrong. Was it a mistake to create the Ultimate Life Form? I thought it would be something that would benefit mankind... But then the military guards landed on the Colony that day. They were sent to destroy the research project that I had been working on. My colleagues at the research facility, my granddaughter Maria, I hope you are all safe." Was how it started.
"The colony was completely shut down, probably to prevent the prototype from falling into the wrong hands.The ARK was shut down under the premise that there had been an accident. I found Maria's name among those who died when the ARK was shut down. She meant everything to me! And I couldn't bear the thought that she died because of my research. I lost everything! I had nothing more to live for! I went insane!! All I could think about, was to avenge her! Somehow, someway, I got scared as I no longer was able to control my thoughts. All I could think about, was that I wanted it all to end. Based on my original projections, I was able to complete my project; Shadow. I designed its mind to be perfect, pure... I will leave everything, to him. If you wish, release and awaken it to the world.." Rouge continued to scroll through the contents of the diary.
"..if you wish to fill the world with destruction-" She turned to look back at Eggman. "-So that's why you released Shadow from the military base!" She concluded.
"It is strange none of the contents spoke of Sonicā¦" Tails added on.
"The core of the Eclipse Cannon is now highly reactive and explosive. This is because of the energy of the Chaos Emeralds is overpowering it. If the colony collides with earth, it will shatter into pieces like my grandfather predicted!" Eggman was kind of ecstatic hearing just what his grandfather was capable of. "That mad scientist!"
"Are you talking about him or yourself?" Amy sarcastically answered.
"We have to stop the Space Colony, now!" Tails exclaimed.
"The Space Colony ARK's position may have shifted due to the amount of energy given off by the Emeralds. We have to stop the energy!" Eggman explained to the others.
"How do we do that?" Tails asked, still confused.
Rouge caught one to what the plan was though. "Hmm, that's it. There is a way to stop the energy!" She pointed to Knuckles. "We have to use your Emerald! You're the one who told me that the Master Emerald has the power to stop the Chaos Emeralds!"
Of course, how could they forget that. "That's right." Knuckles confirmed, pulling out the Master Emerald. "If I use this, I just might be able to stop the Chaos Emeralds!"
"But the Chaos Emeralds is already moving toward the Cannon's Core! It may be too late!" Tails interjected.
"There still may be time left. If we pull together, we might be able to get to the shortcut that leads to the core!" Eggman added on.
"I got it!" Amy exclaimed, before running towards the door. "I'll get those two to help! Just leave it to me!" Before the other's could offer any argument, Amy was out the door to go find Sonic and Shadow.

"Guess this is itā¦" Sonic grimaced, looking down at the planet as it was getting closer and closer by the second with the faster the ARK descended. He was leaning against the edge of the window, his head resting on Shadow's shoulder as the other silently stared out the window. "At least, we're going out together. I couldn't ask for any better in the end." Sonic had a sad smile on his face.
Shadow stayed silent, his arm wrapped around Sonic's shoulders, his hand gently rubbing his shoulder in comfort. "If things were different, what would you have done?" Shadow asked.
"Honestly, I would have been happy exploring the planet, learning all its secrets, seeing what it had to offer. Running through the vast jungles, mountains, forests, and so much more. You by my side through it all." Sonic replied, getting closer to Shadow, who simply pulled him in.
"I like the sound of that, maybe it fate is kinder, then maybe in a next life, we can have that." Shadow concluded, part of him feltā¦regret. He was fulfilling the final wish of Maria, but he destroying Sonic's wish. He remembered, thatā¦that was a wish Sonic had even back then.
"When we finally get down there, I want to explore all of it, but only if you come with me!" The memory of a more happier Sonic came back to his mind.
"I would be honored to accompany you, my love." Shadow remembered his response.
Could he be selfish and indulge in what could have been? Imagining what could have been if things were different, would he and Sonic have a place to call home on that planet?
"Going to be honest here Shads, I'm kinda scared. We're made to be immortal essentially but I don't see us coming back from thisā¦so it's kinda scary knowing death is quickly approaching." Sonic admitted, trying to hide his face in Shadow's neck.
For all the carefree and nonchalant air Sonic carried, being faced with such an inevitable outcome, brought out a side Shadow only saw a handful of times. The darker hedgehog pulled Sonic into a hug, letting his body fall to the ground, his back against the metal wall of the window's ledge. He let Sonic bury his face in his chest, running his hand through Sonic's quills as he rested own head on top of Sonic's. "It's okay, I promised you a long time ago that I wouldn't let you suffer any pain alone. I intend to keep that promise until the very end, yeah, it's terrifyingā¦but you're not going down alone. Like I said, if we go down then we go together."
Death was quickly becoming more apparent, and Shadow intended to keep it from Sonic as long as he could. He couldn't protect his sister, but he will protect his lover.
Suddenly the door burst open, startling the two, it was Amy, who was panting after knocking down the door with her hammer. "There you two are, I've been looking everywhere for you!" She exclaimed.
"What do you want faker?" Shadow asked, his grip on Sonic tightening.
"We need your help! Please! We need you!" She pleaded.
"Why should I?" Shadow retorted. "It's all going according to plan. There's no reason for me to help them. Besides, there's no way to save anyone." He elaborated, his glare ice cold as he stared at Amy.
"There has to be! I know that people fight over the most trivial things. Some people may be selfish, like the professor said... but they're basically good, if they try their best and never give up on their wishes. They always have a reason to be happy; that's why you should help them out! Saving them is a good thing! Shadow, I beg you, please do it for them! Give them a chance! If not for me, or them, do it for Sonic!" Amy was panting after yelling all that in one breath.
Shadow stared wide eyed at her, before looking down at Sonic. The blue and white hedgehog was looking up at his significant other. "Do you finally remember now?" Sonic asked.
It all finally came back to Shadow, his final memory of Maria.
"Shadow... I beg of you... please, do it for me... for a better futureā¦" The dying blonde girl spoke to the scared and panicked Shadow.
"Maria!" Shadow had called out. "Let me out! Please! I can't leave you and Sonic here! Maria please!"
The girl gave a soft smile. "ā¦for all the people who live on that planet... give them a chance to be happy. Let them live for their dreams .Don't worry about Sonic, he's okay. Shadow, I know you can do it. That's the reason that you were brought into this world. Sayonara, Shadow, the Hedgehog."
The memory faded away, as tears came down Shadow's face. "That's what I've promised her... I must keep that promise... That's what Maria wished forā¦" He whispered.
"Shadow?" Amy questioned.
Sonic reached up and wiped the tears away, gently kissing the other. "There's the Shadow I know and love." He said softly.
Shadow hugged Sonic tightly. "Thank youā¦for waiting this long for me to remember." Shadow said.
Sonic smiled. "For you, I'll gladly wait an eternity for you."
Shadow quickly stood up, helping Sonic up in the process. "gotta go now. I have to keep my promise to Maria - and you." Shadow said full of determination.
"Lead the way then." Sonic encouraged, a smirk on his face. "I'm not going to sit back while you guys have all the fun, so what's the plan?"

It was a collaborative effort on everyone's part to reach the core of the Eclipse cannon's energy supply.
Because it was so heavily sealed, Tails and Eggman had to work together on separate ends of the ARK to reach the locking mechanisms for the door that lead to where the Chaos Emeralds would be.
The deeper they went, the more robots aboard the ARK attacked them, but they were no match for the Tornado or Eggman's Egg-Mobile, their energy source must be solely directed to the cannon, so they didn't function as they were meant to, just firing at random.
Once the two unlocked the sealed mechanisms, it then fell onto Rouge and Knuckles to handle the second step. Rouge had to flood the system with water so it could drop in temperature, this would activate one of the final mechanisms halfway, while Knuckles would have to swim through the water and activate the mechanism once more in order to drain it, only then would the door open.
Now at the core, Amy walked in with Sonic who helped her get through the final set of obstacles. Upon entering the core, Amy saw how scarily familiar the set up was.
"Are you okay Rose?" Sonic asked her, noticing how she needed a minute.
"Wha- I'm sorry" She apologized, continuing to walk forward. "Its just, this set up is just like on Angel Island, where Knuckles guards the Master Emerald. He better get here soon with that Emerald." She explained.
"They probably designed the core like the shrine to harness the power of the Chaos Emeralds." Sonic gave his input as they walked towards the platform.
"I'm here!" Knuckles yelled, running in and quickly catching up behind the two. Good, they could do this easily now. Just as the three ran up the platform, suddenly a recording of Gerald Robotnik appeared in front of them, causing them to jump back away from the platform.
"What?" Amy questioned, hammer at the ready.
"The Professor?" Sonic was confused.
"All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me, will feel my loss and despair!" The recording of the professor spoke, the whole room began to violently rumble.
"What now?!" Knuckles yelled, the three of them struggling to maintain their balance. The recording just kept repeating itself as the room shook.
The recording gave its message one final time before a bright light engulfed the entire room, causing the three to shield their eyes. When the light faded away, stood in front of them was a giant lizard that was half robotic, its eyes completely obscured by wires that connected to its mouth and it its back. It let out a horrific roar now that it was free.
"What is that?!" Amy yelled.
"Itsā¦Itās the prototype." Sonic answered, in complete shock. "This was the prototype of the ultimate life form, this is Shadow's prototype."
"You mean the one that was supposed to be encapsulated?!" Knuckles retorted, all three prepared for a fight, when suddenly Shadow walked past them, offering his hand to Sonic.
"Leave this one to us." Shadow spoke. Sonic wordlessly nodded towards Shadow, standing by his side.
"Shadow, what're you doing?!" Knuckles asked.
Shadow walked up below the Biolizard, facing his prototype intently, Sonic at his side who was outputting his energy to try to weaken the creature. "We'll take care of this, while you run to get the Chaos Emeralds!!"
The creature let out a horrible scream, as Amy and Knuckles split from the other two hedgehogs, the mechanical lizard swung its tail in retaliation to prevent them from going forward, but was made disoriented by Sonic's screech, allowing Amy and Knuckles to sneak past and head towards the makeshift temple.
"Gotta say Shadow, I hope I don't have a prototype out there, if this thing is anything to go off of." Sonic said, running circles around the lizard, making it dizzy whenever it tried to attack.
"A pathetic attempt, I almost feel sorry for it. Let's put it out of it misery." Shadow added, climbing up the metal pipes that stuck out of the creature and attacking the weak point on its back, the creature howling in pain as he did so.
Sonic let out another screech, the bio lizard howling from the pain it caused. "Impenetrable skin but a giant self destruct button on it back, how innovative." He sarcastically remarked, Shadow chuckling in response.
This game of cat and mouse continued on, the creature trying to slay its targets but it proved no match against the living speed and the true ultimate life form. It took one final hit from Shadow before it collasped. .
As that was happening, Amy and Knuckles reach the platform and see a hole in the center for the Master Emerald to be inserted. "It looks like the Master Emerald fits here, Knuckles do the honors will you?" Amy said.
Knuckles nodded, taking out the Master Emerald from the sealed space he created to keep it in, placing it down on the spot in the temple's center. Once it was in place, Knuckles closed his eyes.
He put his focus on the Master Emerald, kneeling down before it and saying the ancient words passed down from his ancestor Tikal, from the time Perfect Chaos attacked Station Square. "The servers are the seven Chaos. Chaos is power, power is enriched by the heart. The controller is the one that unifies the Chaos. Only you can do this; stop the Chaos Emeralds!"
The Master Emerald spins rapidly and emits a green aura. Several mixed energies dash around, and the Biolizard screeches. After shrieking again, it uses Chaos Control to warp away.
"What the-? Is it gone?" Sonic asked, confused to where that giant monster disappeared to, walking up the makeshift temple stairs to join Amy and Knuckles, Shadow not that far behind.
"Is that what Chaos Control is truly capable of?" Shadow questioned, reaching the top of the temple steps.
Once all four were present, the entire space station began to violently shake once more. "Since we stopped the Chaos Emeralds, why is the Space Colony still on a crash course to earth?!" Knuckles exclaimed, as the loud speaker suddenly came on.
"The Prototype is still alive! He's controlling the Space Colony as it is falling to earth! He has become one with the Space Colony, and is determined to keep it on its collision course!!" Eggman yelled from the loud speaker before it cut off.
Amy looked at Knuckles, who nodded silently in response. Using his abilities, he summoned forth the chaos emeralds, and they began to swirl around Amy. "Just leave it to me, Super Amy will have that thing taken care of in no time!"
"We'll-"
"I'll go with you."
Sonic was caught off guard by Shadow suddenly cutting him off, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was the final battle, it was now or never, and Shadow wanted Sonic to stay behind?
Shadow could feel Sonic's eyes digging into the side of his head. "Can you two give us a moment?" Shadow asked.
"Sure why not, it's only the fate of the world at stake." Knuckles responded sarcastically as Shadow pulled Sonic to the side.
"Shadow, you can't be serious about going in alone on this." Sonic said, feeling Shadow's tail under his chin as the other got closer. "This isn't what we planned, this isn't-" Sonic didn't get to finish his sentence. But what Shadow had to say wasn't any better.
"Mi Amor, I need you here if something goes wron-"
"Don't." Sonic cut him off before he could even finish that thought, grabbing Shadow by his shoulders. "Don't say that, nothing is going to go wrong, you're coming back fine." He had to come back fine, Sonic would never forgive himself if Shadow burned out when he could have done something to stop it.
It hurt Shadow to see the other like this, but it was true what he was saying. Anything could happen and the world couldn't lose both of them like this. And if the world had to lose one of them, Shadow prefer it be him, the living weapon. But not Sonic, Sonic was a pure embodiment of all that was good and beautiful on that planet, he won't let them lose that.
Shadow grabbed Sonic's chin, lifting his head up to face him, and kissed the other. Sonic melting into the kiss, not wanting to let the other go. The two pulling away when the need for air arose. "Promise me you'll come back." Sonic asked, a begging, pleading look in his eyes.
"...."
"Promise me, Shads...please..." Sonic begged him, he needed to hear those two words from Shadow even if it wasn't true.
"....I promise." Shadow agreed, yet deep down, he knew he would end up breaking that promise. He gave Sonic one final kiss on the forehead, before joining up with Amy.
She offered him her hand. "Let's go out there and save the world, you ready?"
"Hmph, what kind of question is that?" Shadow responded, taking her hand and a bright light enveloped them, before it flew out of the ARK.
Knuckles and Sonic watched as the two flew off, Knuckles looked towards Sonic, seeing how tightly he was gripping himself. "Are you okay Sonic?" Knuckles asked.
"I'd be lying if I said yes, let's just go back up to everyone else." Sonic said, avoiding the conversation.

The two joined back with Tails, Rouge, and Eggman, all of them watching in silence as the battle progressed outside the ARK.
It was clear the creature of putting up one hell of a final fight. "If those two are planning something then they need to do it now! There's no time!" Eggman yelled.
Sonic watched in silence, worry across his face, praying to whoever was listening that they succeed. Things couldn't end here, not like this. "Amy hurry, there's five minutes left!" Tails exclaimed into the comms.
Meanwhile on the outside, Shadow and Amy had just finished off the creature but the ARK was plunging down to earth, wrapped in fire. Amy and Shadow speed to it, enveloped in a golden light.
"Now Shadow!" Amy exclaimed, the two flying at high speeds towards the ARK.
"CHAOS CONTROL!!" The two yelled in unison, using all the strength they had to teleport the ARK back into orbit, the plan was risky but it was a success. The world and the ARK were safe now.
"WE DID IT SHADOW! Shadow?" Amy had begun to cheer when she turned to face Shadow and saw he didn't look so good. "Hey what's wrong?" She asked flying towards him.
He overdid it, his body couldn't maintain stability anymore. Is this what they called your final moments? As Shadow swore he could hear Maria's voice faintly speaking to him. Through his blurred vision, he could see Amy approaching but held his hand in front of him to stop her. "Don't, you'll fall tooā¦" He spoke.
"Shadow I don't-" Amy was going to say she didn't understand until she saw Shadow flickering in and out of existence, beginning to fall down towards the planet. "SHADOW!" She tried to reach him but he pushed her away.
"Take careā¦of Sonicā¦" Was the last thing he said before he completely disappeared into the atmosphere of the planet, leaving behind a single cracked inhibitor.
Amy silently grabbed it, wiping away tears for the one she barely knew but could already call a friend. "Goodbye, Shadow the Hedgehog." She whispered into space, before flying back to the ARK!
Inside the ARK, everyone feeling relief and celebrating. But Sonic? Sonic was still watching from the window, a shaky smile on his face. They had did it, now all that was needed for them to come back onto the ARK-
That's when he saw it happen ,Shadow's super form flickering in and out. "No...." His voice giving out on himself. Dread, horror, fear, panic, engulfed the entirety of Sonic's body and mind, as the scene before him began slowly playing out.
How Amy tried to reach for Shadow who was passing out now, how Shadow sent her away. He couldn't make out what they were saying. All he knew was- "NO! Shadow- NO no no no-!" Sonic yelled, he tried to go after Shadow, Chaos knew he was fully prepared to break the window to go after him.
It took three in the room, Rouge, Tails, and Knuckles to hold him back, and not actually break through the window. "Let me go- I need to- SHADOW! SHADOW PLEASE! LET ME GO DAMN IT! SHADOW-"
Shadow was there one second, flickering in and out of existence, the next, Sonic saw him turn into dust as he descended to the planet. Only a cracked inhibitor left behind, Amy carefully grabbing it with a sad look on her face.
Sonic felt his whole world shatter, as he stopped fighting against the others and fell to his knees. "S-Shadow...." He stared with wide eyes at the spot where his lover had been, tears welling up in his eyes. This was a bad dream, this had to be a bad dream.
Yet he knew this wasn't a dream. This was reality, and realityā¦.just ripped away the most important person in his life away, the one he was made to protect, to prevent this exact situation from happening. He failed his one mission from the professor, he failed Maria, he failed Shadowā¦.
"No...SHADOW!!" The dam burst, when the others tried to comfort him, he pushed them away.
When Amy entered the ARK again, inhibitor in hand, she walked towards Rouge, handing it to her silently. "Do you really think... that the professor created him, Shadow, to carry out the revenge on all those who live here, on earth?" She asked Amy, to see what she thought Shadow was, who he really was meant to be.
"He was what he was. A brave and heroic hedgehog, who gave his life to save this planet. Shadow the Hedgehogā¦" Amy answered, looking out towards the window.
Rouge was satisfied with that answer. "I guess you're right." She looked down on the inhibitor ring. "This should be enough to convince them that Shadow is no longer a threat." She began, pulling Amy's attention back to her. "I hope this will be enough to at least give Sonic the freedom he deserves down there. It looked likeā¦Shadow told you something, what was it?"
Amy gave a soft yet sad smile. "To take care of Sonic, I don't know if I can live up to his expectations, but I will do my best to keep that promise to Shadow. Until the very end, Sonic was his priority." Amy answered, as Rouge began to walk away, a smile on her face as well.
In another part of the room, Eggman and Tails were having a conversation. "As a child, I looked up to my grandfather because of all the great things he accomplished in his life. He was my hero, and I wanted to be a great scientist like him. But... did he really mean to destroy us?" Eggman questioned.
"I don't know. But what I do know is, we all did it together!" Tails exclaimed, because it's true. No one could know what was going through Gerald's distraught and grieving mind, but they worked together to make sure that possible final wish of Gerald couldn't come true.
"So what's next for you, Rouge? Off again to find those jewels you love so much?" Knuckles asked Rouge who was about halfway out the door.
"Nah, I think I'm gonna give up this line of work. Too much work, for too little pay. Anyway... I've got something better than jewels that I'm thinking about right now... ...It'll all work out, you'll see." She told him but he didn't trust a word she said, simply agreeing with her for now, hoping that it was just that and he wouldn't wake up to the Master Emerald gone or in pieces because of her.
It was a somber, bittersweet moment for everyone, all seemed satisfied and relieved in some way. But Sonic saw red through his tears. Oh how he burned with heartbreak and rage, as he heard the conversations. Within a second, he had grabbed Amy by her neck. "YOU COULD HAVE SAVED HIM YOU WERE RIGHT THERE WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE HIM?!?!?!" He yelled through the tears.
The others were trying to get him to let go of Amy. "He- He told me not to. To- Protect you.." Amy said, to the best of her ability.
Sonic let go of her, staring as Amy coughed, struggling to catch her breath. "What a load of crap, I don't need protection."
"I'm not lying...Sonic." Amy tried to reason, with the angry hedgehog. "He asked me to take care of you. We have had a rough beginning, but we can start over. Join us on our adventures Sonic, you deserve a second chance, and I believe you're a great person, and maybe we can be friends?" Ever the optimist Amy was, once again holding her hand out towards Sonic.
Sonic just stared. It was an awkward few minutes, before he smacked her hand away, turning away from her and making his way towards Rouge, snatching the cracked inhibitor. "You have some fucking nerve. You really think I want to team up with the person that sent my partner to his demise?!" *Sonic spat, shoving Knuckles and Rouge away and walking towards the exit.
"Sonic wait-" It was Rouge this time, trying to talk some sense into Sonic.
"Don't follow me. None of you. Right now, I can't stand the sight of any of you. So do me a favor and just leave me the fuck alone. You've done enough." And with that, Sonic left for the planet, and none of them knew if he was going to be okay or if they would ever see him again.
It truly was a bittersweet ending to this adventure.

Twin Famicom (NES model by Sharp)
The Twin Famicom is a video game console system that was produced by Sharp Corporation in 1986 (Juli 1) and was only released in Japan. It is a licensed Nintendo product that combines the Famicom (NES) and the Famicom Disk System into a single piece of hardware.
The essential parts of the Twin Famicom include a 60-pin socket for Famicom cartridges and a socket for Disk System disk cards. The player could switch between the two media types with a switch ā cassette "ć«ć»ćć" or disk "ćć£ć¹ćÆ" The Twin Famicom is fully compatible with the NES and can handle accessories made for the NES (e.g. Beam Gun). But there is also an extra port on the Twin Famicom. This allows a 'regular' Famicom to use the Twin Famicom's disk drive.
The original Famicom only has one color combination, and the Twin Famicom was initially sold in two colors: red with black highlights (AN-500R), and black with red highlights (AN-500B). A second version of the system was released in 1987 with a slightly different case design, turbo controllers, and two different color schemes; black with green highlights (AN-505-BK) and red with beige highlights (AN-505-RD).
Like the Famicom, the Twin Famicom uses NTSCĀ but with anĀ AVĀ output rather than anĀ RF modulator[2][3]Ā with an RCA connectorĀ forĀ composite videoĀ and mono audio, allowing for greater audiovisual quality on TVs and monitors with such inputs. An external RF modulator is bundled with the unit for connection through a TV's antenna/cable input. The two gamepads are hardwired into the console, so they cannot be disconnected. Photonic chip that 'fits together like Lego' opens door to semiconductor industry
Researchers at the University of Sydney Nano Institute have invented a compact silicon semiconductor chip that integrates electronics with photonic, or light, components. The new technology significantly expands radio-frequency (RF) bandwidth and the ability to accurately control information flowing through the unit. Expanded bandwidth means more information can flow through the chip and the inclusion of photonics allows for advanced filter controls, creating a versatile new semiconductor device. Researchers expect the chip will have applications in advanced radar, satellite systems, wireless networks and the roll-out of 6G and 7G telecommunications and also open the door to advanced sovereign manufacturing. It could also assist in the creation of high-tech value-add factories at places like Western Sydney's Aerotropolis precinct.
